The link contains an article about governments installing spy cams. That one is in Europe. For something a bit more close to home for Americans, this article is about New York.

I think it's an interesting question how much privacy we're willing to give up for protection. "Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all." (from Serenity) Nobody's perfect. "First, they came for the hackers."

FRONTLINE had some pretty good programs for the holidays:

Merry Christmas! From Jesus to Christ challenges familiar assumptions about the life of Jesus and the epic rise of Christianity.

The holidays have become very commercialized, and The Persuaders takes an interesting look into advertising. The program was only beginning when it ended, however. It seems obvious that the next chapter would be about things such as Amazon's recommendations and Google's AdSense.

After holiday feasts, losing weight is a popular New Year's resolution. Diet Wars is about the low carb vs. low fat debates. The basic conclusion is what we all already knew -- that there are just no shortcuts for simply eating less and exercising more.

Too much computer use may not cause carpal tunnel syndrome after all.

A little early, but I would rather expect the character to no longer be available for Thanksgiving. (Link requires flash.)

There's no denying that the Internet is efficient. The problem with efficiency is that it's a neutral force.

The following was copy-pasted from the link...
Within two minutes of AFP photographer Stanly Honda electronically publishing a photo of Katrina victim Latesha Vinette holding up her Red Cross debit card, Ms. Vinette was paged by the management of Reliant stadium to receive a call from Mastercard asking about cash advances totally $65,237, the attempted purchase of a Ferrari automobile using her card #, along with hundreds of purchases from eBay, including, ironically, camping gear.

I've got Firefly fever. Serenity comes out Sept 30. I've already seen it (I went to a preview at the Metreon), and it's so shiny!

(I mixed the banner together myself.)

In response to the Hacker Hunters link, Jadae had asked, "Is hacking about power or money (or both)?" I still haven't ventured a response, but I thought this article might stall for time.

I get a kick out of stories like this. "Hacker Hunter" has a nice ring to it. The article might even have movie potential -- Godfather IV: the Internet years.
